Handbook (please note Handbook is currently in revision)

The purpose of the handbook is to make information available to parents and students pertaining to the operation of the Academy.
It is hoped that each student and parent will read the information contained herein and keep this handbook for future references. It is realized that it is impossible to include all information pertinent to the operation of the Academy but it is believed that this handbook will be of great value to you.

Attendance
A priority at WWCA is to use instructional time productively. Regular attendance is critical if the results of the teaching and learning tasks are to be maximized. It is essential that each student recognize the sequential nature of instruction, and that any unnecessary and/or excessive absence severely impedes the educational process. Therefore, WWCA attendance regulations have been established with the best interests of WWCA and the students/parents in mind.

Absenteeism
It is the parents and student’s responsibility to assist in keeping track of their absences. In order for an absence to be approved, a written excuse from a parent is required. Sickness and family are acceptable reasons for being absent. Students are allowed ten office approved absences per year. More than ten absences, other than those documented by a doctor’s excuse or death in the immediate family, will result in failure of course. The allowed number of excused absences is five per semester. Also, a student may only miss twenty days total (ten excused, 10 unexcused) before losing credit for the year unless unusual circumstances are approved.

Note: Sickness not documented by a doctor’s excuse within five school days of the student’s return will count toward the ten allowed absences.

A student (k5-6) must be present at least 3 hours to be counted present for the day. A student (7-12) must be present at least 4 hours to be counted as present.

Students must be signed out by someone on the sign out form at the front desk. We are asking parents not to sign their child out for lunch; however, you are welcome to visit your child for lunch. If you would like to order a meal from the cafeteria, please inform us by 9:00 of that day. Lunch periods start at 11:00am and end at 12:30pm.

Elementary students may leave with authorized persons only. Students are responsible for all make-up work and must make these arrangements with their teacher(s).
